David Buss

"Evolutionary psychology is a lens through which can be examined any psychological phenomenon".

David Buss is a recognized evolutionary psychologist expert on instincts. His research interests include the psychology of sex differences, human sexuality, mating strategies, conflict between the sexes, why people kill, warfare, terrorism, stalking, and the psychology of prestige, status, and reputation.


He received his B.A. from the University of Texas, and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. He served in professorial positions at Harvard University, the University of Michigan, and the University of Texas. He also served as President of the Human Behavior and Evolution Society (HBES).


Among his books are The Evolution of Desire: Strategies of Human Mating, Evolutionary Psychology: The New Science of the Mind, and The Dangerous Passion: Why Jealousy is as Necessary as Love and Sex.


Buss has roughly 300 scientific publications, and has been cited as one of the 30 most influential living psychologists. As well lectures widely within the USA and internationally.
